Starter Cable Triumph Tiger 1050

2007 triumph speed triple won't start. A while before it wouldnt start, it would periodically seem to drag while turning over. Usually i could release the starter and push again and it was fine. That problem went away and everything seemed fine. Last weekend it wouldn't even try. The positive battery cable was loose, but apparently wasn't the cause. At times with power to the dash lights, the tachometer would sit at 3000 rpms with the key on and the bike not running.

The starter would go about one round and disengage itself, but only with cables on it. I don't think the battery is the problem.

To the rear of the battery is another relay.I was removing, swapping relays to try to isolate my problem. I can remember though that while removing one of those 4 relays, just the headlights would be on and there would be no other cockpit lights on. The giveaway is when the fuel pump dosen't prime. On the 650 you can both see this (tacho needle goes off the scale) and hear it.If it's the same with the 600, it would be worth checking these relays.Posted on Nov 10, 2008.
