I'm playing SC2 on a Mac (yes I see automatic hate on me for this), but as I started to play more and more I'll be leaning towards the Windows again. The keyboard that I use now is none other that Apple wireless keyboard and I must say I really love it, despite the fact my brother says it's complete trash etc. Because for 7 and 8 groups I use F2 and F3 keys respectively.

Those keys are so close to numeric keys that it's very very practical since I'm used to it. Now the reason why I ask for your help is because I don't know any similar keyboards to this one and using Apple keyboard under Windows will work, but obviously cause troubles. Here is the image of how it exactly look like. #5 Well mechanical keyboards are your best bet for keyboards. Downsides are they're expensive and they won't make you super-pro or anything (but they're very worth it if you type a lot/use the computer a lot in general). This is the mechanical keyboard I use: Note the f-keys are close. It's really great quality as well, not far from a filco by all the reviews.

Here is a review from geekhack: Really the best keyboard you can get for SC, the only downsides are that the keys are a bit hard to see and that you have to order it from Taiwan. This is the one im going to get eventually: Razer Blackwidow Ultimate this one is mechanical, backlit, and/but has super loud keys.

I personally love that. Buying the Ultimate version of Blackwidow is completely unneccessary, in the normal version you dont have the useless usb port, sound thingie and not the backlighting on the buttons (which is also useless, even at lans and in the dark) and the difference in price is extreme. But I still recommend this keyboard the non-ultimate version of it that is. On March 05 2011 09:28 Streltsy wrote: Well mechanical keyboards are your best bet for keyboards. Did you order the Noppoo from PCHome? Or ArmyGroup? On March 05 2011 09:37 DyEnasTy wrote: this is the keyboard I use: Razer Marauder I love it. Keys are rubber coated and feel really good.

I live in a studio apartment with my wife and she cant sleep with one of the room lights on. I need the backlighting personally. Even with the extra $50 or so tagged on, it'd still be cheaper than a good number of mechanical keyboards and be more functional too. Not everyone is looking for a plain no-nonsense keyboard and if we're talking about bare necessity, there's no real necessity to buy a mechanical keyboard in the first place.

Interestingly enough, when I had my old G15, I used my USB ports all the time and my friends would always turn the backlighting on whenever they were over because it made it easier for them to find the keys in the dark while gaming. I suppose everyone is in a different situation when it comes to what they need or want, but that's why we have different models. I have the marauder as well, i really wish it was mechanical, but i love the backlights, APM lighting is kind of gimmicky but it reminds me to work on keeping my apm at a decent level from time to time i like the fact that you can make the backlit any color though i keep my bright red looks awesome:D.

Nice looking keyboard from Razer! Our trusty Apple wireless keyboard broke down after a horrific coffee spill accident. This led us shopping for a new keyboard last weekend and being the gamers that we are, we ended up buying the Razer Starcraft II Heart of the Swarm Marauder Gaming Keyboard!

We were thinking of getting another BlackWidow mechanical keyboard but we decided to go for this one since we already had the Starcraft II gaming mouse. By the way, we’ve already featured two Razer keyboards in the past.

Check out the links below if you wanna read about them some more. Okay with that out of the way let’s jump right into the unboxing! Packaging and Unboxing Truly for the geeks in pink The keyboard came in your typical black Razer box. What caught our attention though with this particular box was the red/pink colors, lol. Apparently they used the same primary colors that were used for StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm.

Unboxing was straightforward. We peeled off the tape and pulled out the inner carton compartment. Other than the actual keyboard we found the usual Razer manuals and logo stickers. Officially unboxed!

Initial Impressions The Marauder features a full keyboard layout with the integrated number pad with arrow keys. Since the keypad is integrated with the number pad the over-all size compared to traditional keyboards is slightly smaller. This means a reduced desktop footprint. In terms of design, the Marauder has laser-etched keys which look incredibly stunning.

Definitely one of the most kick-ass keyboards we’ve seen! Truly made for gamers. There are also LED strips along the sides and at the bottom. These strips as well as the keys light up with the colors determined by the Razer APM (action per minute) lighting system. You can set what color lights up as you scale up the number of actions per minute that you have. It’s a nice reminder for professional or incredibly competitive StarCraft II gamers.

Integrated key pad and number pad The Marauder has a braided 7-foot USB cable. Unfortunately to use the Marauder you’ll need to plug-in two USB slots.

Looks like these beast is a power hog as well since it needs to draw energy from two USB sources. This is a pain in the ass for Mac users since MacBook Pros usually just have 2 USB slots, lol. The keys of the Marauder are elevated and optimized for distance and spacing. Actuation is good but it can feel a little bit resistive especially if you’re coming from a mechanical keyboard. Keys feel good For gamers one good feature is “On-the-fly Macro”.

You can basically program sequences of key presses with just one click. Definitely helpful if you can naturally weave it into your gameplay.

As the name suggests, the Marauder is really made for gaming. If you’re looking for a keyboard that’s more for typing then you might wanna invest in a mechanical keyboard instead. The Razer StarCraft II: HoS Marauder Gaming Keyboard is now available locally at Razer distributor and retailer partners for Php5,020. We got ours from PC Express in SM Megamall Cyberzone.
